Earthrise - Interview
Interview mit dem Game Designer
Apostol Apostolov: Social Experience is a pool of points received when the character is employed at an offline profession. In order to provide our players with a way to recover from unfortunate partial or full looting without nerfing the mechanics our hardcore audience expects from us, we provide players with a chance to earn a small but constant amount of money by choosing to dedicate their everyday life to benefitting the society on Enterra. Whether you will become a scientist, a librarian or a nano-jockey, you will both earn money and Career Experience. As your Career Experience rises in quantity, better paying jobs might become available to those who actively search for a better payment.
Onlinewelten: It is possible to fight against other players and PvP is an important part of the game. Can we attack and loot players from the own faction? And do we need to take care in battles that we don’t attack faction members accidentally (friendly fire)?
Apostol Apostolov: PvP is the central point of experiencing Earthrise and when we wanted to let players decide how they approach not just the world, but the complex inter-player community, we gave them as much freedom as possible. Players can attack other players of their own faction, but such treasonous actions will be highly damning to their reputation and faction standings and in secured areas such players would be overwhelmed by security forces attacks. However, players won’t have to think every time they attack, as there are many precautions in place to avoid friendly fire. Players can attack players of the same faction, guild or party only if they strictly desire to.
Onlinewelten: Clan bases are another interesting part. Where can clans build their bases and what is the requirement? What is the benefit for the clan? And is it necessary, to guard the conquered territories and the bases 24/7 by a clan? Or is an attack only possible under certain terms and at specified times?
Apostol Apostolov: Concession Grounds is a massive territory that has been recently prospected and found a grand source of important and newfound resources that have given a boost to the technological development of Enterra. This land is being turned into a battlefield of economic, political and military interests and players will group into guilds and try to take control of one or several of these territories to mine resources needed to gain a share of the world market. While territories will allow players to develop their own headquarters, building up defenses and mining facilities of their own, and guard it well against attacks most of the time, there will be guild-scheduled, forced maintenance periods that require the whole guild to protect the base against possible attacks from other guilds. Times of maintenance are guild-specified but the guild cannot avoid maintenance for indefinite time. If they do not schedule their own, a maintenance period will be forced to them.
Onlinewelten: Last but not least: Will you offer an open beta phase? Do you plan to release localized versions?
Apostol Apostolov: We are currently in closed beta and are not ready to set a date for an open beta phase yet. We’re committed to ensuring that Earthrise is ready to be released to the public before we invite everyone into beta. In the meantime, we will continue to release screenshots, lore and updates on the game’s progress. Yes, we plan to release localized versions.
Onlinewelten: Finally, here is your chance to send some free words to our readers.
Apostol Apostolov: Get ready for Earthrise! What you are going to experience is a whole new take on the science fiction genre and a new approach to MMOs as well.
Thank you very much :)
